Thank you, Merci, Danke, Gracias, Obrigado!

As Recruiters, we sometimes (ok, more than sometimes – most of the time!) get a bad rep as cowboys and general pond life. I have no doubt that in some instances, these stereotypes are true and entirely justified, but what about the good guys….

Securing the right job can change everything for someone, it can re-ignite their love for what they do, it can boost their confidence, improve their financial earnings and vastly enhance their work life balance and mind set, impacting positively on their family and those around them.

I was delighted when at the start of last week, a genuinely lovely candidate, in a role he really wasn’t enjoying and wasn’t being suitably recognised for was offered a great role, working on precisely the type of projects he is truly interested in and offering him far improved work life balance. This is why I love what I do and why I have stuck with it for so long, because I really am helping people.

The candidate was thrilled to be offered the role and rarely people take the time to thank the recruiters who help in the process, but this candidate did and it really made my week.

“Just wanted to say a massive thank you to you for your help support and patience over this last few months. It’s been brilliant to deal with such a passionate, committed, professional recruitment consultant, you've been an absolute pleasure to work with.”

So, with so much on social media bashing recruiters at the moment and with our perception at an all time low, this reminded me that there is value in what recruiters do, that we really are making a difference and that a simple “thank you” can make you feel truly appreciated.
